Christian Counseling for Trauma,
Anxiety, Grief & Life Transitions

Rooted in biblical hope & practical strategies.

Change can happen.
Healing is possible.

Maybe you’re carrying the weight of past experiences, struggling with anxiety that won’t quiet down, walking through grief, or finding yourself stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand. You may know you want something to change, but aren’t quite sure where to begin.

Hi, I’m Tenley Gummelt, and I provide compassionate, trauma-informed counseling for adults and adolescents in McKinney, Frisco, Plano, and the surrounding North Texas communities. I work with people who are ready to slow down, better understand themselves, and move toward meaningful change—not simply manage symptoms, but explore what’s underneath them.

My approach integrates Christian counseling, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Brainspotting. Together, we can explore the deeper roots of what you’re experiencing while building practical tools to help you feel more grounded, connected, and equipped to move forward.

If you’re ready to better understand yourself, work through what’s holding you back, and move toward greater peace and wholeness, you’ve found the right place.

Tenley Gummelt, M.A., LPC

Counseling for:

Trauma

Trauma can affect far more than the way we remember the past. It can shape our relationships, emotions, beliefs about ourselves, nervous system responses, and sense of safety.

Together, we can explore the experiences and protective patterns that have shaped you, process what still feels unresolved, and work toward greater safety, freedom, and wholeness.

Grief

Grief can come with the loss of someone we love, but it can also follow many other kinds of change and loss. Whether your grief is widely recognized or something others may not fully understand, it deserves space to be acknowledged and processed.

I can offer you a compassionate space to process your loss at a pace that feels comfortable for you, make room for the complicated emotions that come with grief, and help you find your way forward while honoring what—and who—you’ve lost.

Anxiety & Depression

When anxiety, worry, or low mood begins to affect your relationships, work, parenting, sleep, or ability to enjoy life, you don't have to simply push through.

I can help you understand the thoughts, emotions, and patterns contributing to anxiety or depression, while offering practical tools to help you feel more grounded, regain a sense of control, and move toward enjoying life again

Women’s Issues

Women often carry many competing expectations: caring for others while trying to care for themselves, navigating relationships and motherhood, managing transitions, and trying to understand who they are in the midst of it all.

I provide counseling for women navigating motherhood and postpartum changes, shifting identity, relationship and family dynamics, major life transitions, and the pressure to care for everyone else while trying not to lose themselves in the process.

Family of Origin & Boundaries

The family and relationships we grow up in can shape how we communicate, handle conflict, connect with others, and understand our own needs. You may have learned to keep the peace, put others first, avoid conflict, or carry responsibilities that aren’t yours. This can make it difficult to set boundaries, say no without guilt, or maintain healthy relationships while still caring for yourself.

Together, we can explore these patterns with compassion, better understand where they come from, and develop healthier boundaries, communication, and ways of relating without losing yourself in the process.

Adolescents

Being a teenager can be hard. There’s a lot to navigate, from figuring out who you are, to friendships and relationships, school, family expectations, big emotions, and becoming more independent, all while so much is changing.

I offer adolescents a supportive, welcoming space where they can talk openly without fear of judgment. I work with teens who are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, family conflict, stress, or simply feeling overwhelmed by everything they’re carrying.
